Kurt may come off as the “fun party” type of person, but Kurt has layers to him. He is very intelligent, successful, and put together in his work and personal life. It’s kind of funny…if you knew one side of him, you would never guess the other side, but if you ask anyone, Kurt is smart, adventurous, and balanced. And no matter what side you know from him, he stays true to who he is. 

Megan is kind, creative, and one of the most driven people I know. We always joke about manifestation and speaking things into existence, but Megan is dedicated and takes ownership and action towards making her goals and dreams happen, never leaving things up to chance. She is kind, reliable, and supportive. I’ve loved seeing the growth of our friendship.

Kurt has always possessed an innate ability to bring people together  -  he makes it really easy to be friends and he attracts people better than anyone else I know whenever socializing in public. He elevates the ordinary, day-to-day to something more fun, exciting and enjoyable for myself and everyone around him. He pushes you to try activities out of your comfort zone and wants to see you succeed in your endeavors.

Megan cares deeply about those she loves and has always been a guiding force throughout the time I’ve known her. Never have I taken her advice for granted - she offers support selflessly and has an instinctive compassion within her that is rare to find nowadays. Artistic, creative and talented, I am frequently impressed by the projects she takes on while always staying organized. Megan lifts up others without the need for recognition.

The two combined both have good hearts - it’s easy to open up to them and in general, they “get it” when it comes to life and how to live it. Time shared with them is always well spent and my happiest memories always seem to be linked to Kurt & Megan whenever I look back and reminisce.

First Impressions

Megan: We were practically the same person, the only difference being she was 5’3 and I was 5’11. We immediately bonded over our love for Zac Efron, One Tree Hill and finding the beauty in the small moments in life. It was like finding a long lost sister, again, ignoring the height thing. 

Kurt: “Is this guy real?!” His love for IU and ability to live in the moment and have fun made DSP pledgeship more enjoyable and was a lesson on not taking life too seriously. 

Favorite Memory

After knowing each other for maybe a week, I offered to drive to Indy with Megan to run an errand. I said I can keep you company and we could listen to the High School Musical 3 soundtrack. Some would say a perfect Sunday! I think I told her I had nothing else to do but I remember being genuinely excited to go. That 45 minute drive was the start of my first real meaningful friendship in college. Our friendship has always felt natural and easy like that first drive, one where you can just be with the other person and that was enough.

Favorite Memory 

Our Bloomington trip. A last minute invite to join Megan in driving to Bloomington with Sammie, our other work friend, to meet her boyfriend (Kurt). On the car ride up, we chatted about their relationship and it became clear that without even meeting Kurt, I could sympathize with his side of their love story (#TeamKurt). After too much Peach Taaka and the countless games of sink the biz that weekend, it became apparent that I had found my two newest lifelong friends.

Megan: creative, visionary, thoughtful, motivated, ambitious, and witty. Don’t be fooled by her quiet demeanor because this girl can go on Shark Tank and persuade Mr. Wonderful to invest in her business. Small but mighty! 

Kurt: philosophical, curious, passionate, funny, easy-going, and sentimental (ask him about his old couch)

Both: intelligent, loyal, adventurous, caring, and great dancers

Favorite memory

Too many… but some of my favorite memories are when we would all hang out in our Chicago apartment. Megan would make a delicious dinner, Kurt would start a thought provoking conversation, sometimes we would play games while other times we would all find a comfy spot on the couch and watch our favorite shows/movies. The majority of time we didn’t need any source of entertainment other than each other’s company. Those simple, wholesome nights hanging out in our living room together I’ll never forget.

First Impressions

My first impression of Megan was one - “this girl knows everything” and two - if I became friends with her, I would look like a giant in pictures. Fortunately and unfortunately for me, over the past 6 years, both of those things have stayed true. From the first moment I met Megan, she has been someone I can always count on for thoughtful advice. I am so grateful that over the years her guidance navigating friendships and college classes has now turned into help figuring out adult life and the working world.

I have two words for my first impression of Kurt: paint. can. We can always count on Kurt to maintain year old traditions and ensure everyone is having a blast. Kurt has shown so many of us that there is a unique type of joy that comes from passing down tradition, and I can attribute some of my best college memories to that.

First Impressions

I first met Megan when she was interning at Scotts and my first impression was wow she's so small... followed by wow she's so smart. I like her. 

When I first met Kurt, it was at Local Cantina, over some free chips and salsa when he was visiting Megan from Chicago while they were doing long distance. My first impression was wow what an interesting couple, not what I expected. Followed by, wow this guy is much cooler than Megan. Side note - I now see they are SO perfect for each other, complementing each other in the best ways.

This guy's an animal. What a fun time. Kurt is a party and I don't think even he knows when it is supposed to stop.

There are so many. Probably when Kurt, Mark, Adam, and I went caving. Probably one of the stupidest things I've ever done - and Kurt was our leader.  It was really an amazing experience.
